OdysseyCare's SIL, STA, and respite services are individualised, person-centred supports designed specifically for NDIS participants with disability, psychosocial needs, or complex support requirements.

NDIS funded support


Many of our SIL, STA, and respite services can be accessed through NDIS funding, depending on participant goals and plan budgets.

  • Please notify us of any medical, behavioural, sensory, dietary, or support needs prior to commencing services

  • All onboarding documentation must be completed before services begin

  • Specific requirements, including what to bring for STA stays, will be confirmed by our team during the booking and onboarding process

Supported Independent Living (SIL)


SIL supports participants to live as independently as possible in their own home or shared accommodation, with the right level of daily assistance in place.

Supports may include:

  • 24/7 supported accommodation

  • Daily living support within the home

  • Assistance with routines and independence

  • Support with cooking, cleaning, and self-care

  • Building life and independent living skills

Short Term Accommodation (STA)


STA provides participants with a safe, home-like environment for a short period, giving families and carers a well-earned break while participants continue to receive quality care.

Supports may include:

  • Overnight and short-stay accommodation

  • Daily living support and personal care

  • Community participation during stays

  • Capacity building and social engagement

Respite Care

How is SIL different from STA or respite care?

How is SIL different from STA or respite care?

Supported Independent Living is an ongoing, long-term support for participants who live in shared or individual accommodation and need daily assistance. Short Term Accommodation and respite care are short-stay options used to give participants a new experience or give carers a period of rest. All three can be funded through the NDIS and are available through OdysseyCare across Melbourne and Geelong.

How do I know if my NDIS plan includes SIL or STA funding?

Check your current NDIS plan under "Assistance with Daily Life" or "Short Term Accommodation and Assistance." If you are unsure, contact our team or speak with your support coordinator or local area coordinator and we will help you understand your funding and options.

Can my family member access respite care if they have high support needs?

Absolutely. OdysseyCare supports participants with a wide range of needs including complex medical support requirements, physical disability, psychosocial disability, and intellectual disability. Every support is tailored to the individual's goals, strengths, and circumstances. NDIS funded support

Our community nursing services can be accessed through an NDIS plan, depending on participant goals, medical condition, and funding categories.

NDIS community nursing supports may be funded under:

  • Daily Activities (Assistance with Daily Life)

  • Improved Health and Wellbeing

  • Improved Daily Living

  • Support Coordination

  • High Intensity Daily Personal Activities
     

Our team works closely with each participant, their NDIS planner, Support Coordinators, and family to ensure the right support is in place and funding is utilised effectively within their NDIS plan.

Important information

To support safe and effective community nursing care:

  • Please share all relevant medical history, diagnoses, and current treatment plans prior to commencement

  • A nursing assessment will be completed to develop an individualised care plan

  • All onboarding documentation must be completed before nursing supports begin

  • Any changes to a participant's medical condition or treatment should be communicated to our team promptly

  • Our team will liaise with GPs, specialists, and other healthcare providers as required
